A Cabin Crew Member — also known as a Flight Attendant, Air Hostess (female), or Steward (male) — is an airline professional responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and service of passengers during flights.
They are the public face of an airline and must balance hospitality with emergency readiness.
Safety duties:
Conduct pre-flight safety checks and briefings.
Demonstrate safety procedures to passengers.
Ensure compliance with seatbelt, baggage, and smoking regulations.
Handle emergencies: medical incidents, evacuations, turbulence, etc.
Service duties:
Welcome passengers and help them find seats.
Serve meals, snacks, and beverages.
Respond to passenger requests and complaints.
Assist passengers with special needs (elderly, disabled, unaccompanied minors).
Administrative duties:
Complete flight reports.
Manage inventory of meals and duty-free goods.
Coordinate with pilots and ground staff.
Minimum education: 10+2 (Higher Secondary)
Preferred: Diploma/Degree in Aviation, Hospitality, or Travel & Tourism (optional but valued)
Language skills: Good command of English (knowledge of additional languages is an advantage)
Training: Most airlines provide 6–8 weeks of in-house training covering safety, first aid, and service standards.

Age: 18–27 years (varies by airline)
Height: Minimum ~155 cm (female), ~170 cm (male) — varies by airline
Weight: Proportionate to height
Vision: Usually 6/6 (with or without correction)
Appearance: Well-groomed, no visible tattoos/piercings (except earrings for women)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
